GREECE CRETE LASITHI KRITSA PANAGIA KERA

Just before entering the village of Kritsa, the church of Panagia Kera lies on the right side of the road from Agios Nikolaos. The originally aisleless church with cupola was built early in the 13th century with the typical heavy walls and reinforcements, and dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin. The two other aisles were added later in the 13th (or early in the 14th) century.

The interior of the church is impressively decorated with several layers of frescoes of the 13th and 14th century.
